Types of keywords in SEO

The different types of keywords are

1. Short-tail keywords

This kind of keyword is mainly a combination of 1-2 phrases, for example, “car”, “shirt”, and “pet”. It has high search volume and highly competitive.

Most people who type short-tail keywords in search engines are not specific about what they are looking for. They are not sure of the kind of product or brand they want.

This type of keyword is very hard for your blog to rank in the number one spot in search results. But even if you manage to win the top spot and get thousands of visitors to your site you might not get your target clients.

The short-tail keyword might give you huge traffic but their conversion rate is very low than focused keywords.

2. Long-tail keyword

Long-tail keywords are a combination of 3 or more words that are more specific than short-tail keywords. For example, “cheapest hosting companies”, “best blogging platform”, and “how to get website traffics”.

The people who are typing this kind of keyword in the search bar know exactly what they want. Long-tail keyword has low competition

A long-tail keyword may not give you high traffic like a short-tail keyword. But it is very easy to rank and very good in conversion rate if you target the right audience with the proper long-tail keyword.

3. Branded keyword

This type of keyword is mainly focused on getting more brand exposure because it is a phrase that contains your brand or business name.

When someone visits a search engine and types in your brand name. It shows that they have your brand in mind.

But might want to find out more about the business such as your location. How legit is the business, and more. Your brand will always rank first in search results if it is unique.

4. Geo-targeting keyword

The geo-targeting keyword is mainly focused on phrases that target a particular location. It can be very beneficial for local business owners.

For example. If you are a web service provider or web designer and you want to target people in your area.

Final thought on keyword research

Look for lower domain authority and domain rating websites on the search to make sure that new blogs can rank for that keyword.
